It’s in Here is a collection of suspenseful mobile VR experiences. In this game a global haunting has happned, and each experience places the player in a different location to see how the haunting is unfolding.
The goal with this project was to create a game that focused on suspense more than scare. I wanted to make sure that the scares in the game felt earned by building the tension as much as possible before paying them off. I also wanted to create a story that challenged the tradition scary story element in which the charater is often trapped at a location. In the story of Its in Here, the haunting is happening everywhere so it doesn't matter if you escape the location or manage to call for help because what is happening is a global phenomenon.
An experience doesn't need to be photo realistic to draw a player in. The models in this game are not realistic, but they are cohesive. Even though the setting does not look entirely real, players can be drawn into an experience and accept it as reality if the experience is compelling enough.
